What is K-Laser Therapy?
K-laser therapy is a leading edge treatment that has continued to gather clinical evidence of its ability to reduce pain, inflammation and accelerate healing across a wide range of clinical presentations.
K-Laser has undertaken extensive clinical research into the benefits of its treatment and is the laser that is used by the NHS It is due to this research that we trialled the K-Laser at the practice. We were so impressed with the results of our trials that we are proud to state Barrmore Vets is one of the very few practices in Wales to offer this treatment.
Testimonials
Hear what owners think about our healing K-Laser therapy
How does it work?
Laser energy provided by the K-Laser increases your pet’s circulation, drawing blood and nutrients to the area, where the laser then stimulates the release of oxygen to the damaged tissues, creating an optimal healing environment. The laser also increases energy at a cellular level and reduces pain and inflammation by a direct effect on the nerves.
Will it hurt my pet?
It is a completely painless therapy and many pets find the treatment incredibly relaxing. There may be a very mild warming effect. No sedation is required.
What if my pet is on medication?
Treatments can be given to your pets whilst they are on medication.
K-Laser therapy may reduce your pet’s symptoms as well as providing enhanced pain relief and anti-inflammatory benefits with no side effects. This, in turn, after a course of treatment, may lead to your pet being able to benefit from reduced dosage and, in many cases, an elimination of the need for anti-inflammatory/pain relieving medication altogether.
Is K-Laser Therapy Covered by Insurance?
Yes it is! K-Laser Class IV Therapy is recognised by animal insurers as a veterinary prescribed treatment ensuring that your pet’s laser therapy sessions are covered under the normal terms of their veterinary insurance policy
What does a course of treatment entail?
Each treatment is tailored to your pet’s individual needs. A course of sessions is recommended as the treatment has a cumulative effect.
Usually, we recommend a series of 6 sessions which are then followed by a maintenance programme every 2-4 weeks.
What conditions can it treat?
K-Laser can be successful in reducing symptoms and enhancing quality of life in a range of conditions including:
- Osteoarthritis
- Gingivitis
- Chronic wounds
- Dermatitis, eczema, and other atopic conditions including ears
- Muscle sprain, ligament tears and fractures
We also recommend K-Laser treatment for post-surgical cases due to its proven accelerated healing, enhancing pain relief and reducing inflammation.
